Spring Savings are in the Air at eFashionHouse.com, Plus Site Welcomes Melie Bianco, Murval and Elaine Turner

eFashionHouse.com ushers in spring with new arrivals, savings up to 50% and adds three new handbag designers - Melie Bianco, Murval and Elaine Turner.

Sky Valley, CA (PRWEB) March 26, 2008 -- After months of winter fashion accessories, spring is finally on its way and eFashionHouse.com celebrates with savings of 25-70% on the latest trends in designer handbags. Committed to offering shoppers the best online prices for purses, eFashionHouse.com, named Best of the Web by People StyleWatch for below retail priced designer handbags and recognized by About.com as the top of three online retailers of off-priced Chanel, just added hundreds of new designer handbags from Marc Jacobs, Prada, Chanel, Gucci, Anya Hindmarch, Isabelle Fiore, Coach, Tano and many more top designers, just in time for spring. The site also added three new designer fashion brands - Melie Bianco, Murval and Elaine Turner - to its huge selection of designer handbags for even more savings.

"We are excited to add Melie Bianco, Murval and Elaine Turner handbags because the handbag demand has changed from including not only the big designer names to now welcoming other chic designers with more affordable prices," said Anna Miller, eFashionHouse Owner. "Regardless of the Economy, women still want to buy themselves a new purse, and making affordable prices available online is the purpose of eFashionHouse where you do not have to spend a fortune to carry a new quality designer handbag."

With all purses priced under $100, both Melie Bianco and Murval are known for their trendy styles and amazing prices. A favorite among fashion editors, Melie Bianco has been featured in an array of magazines, like Marie Claire, People, Cosmopolitan and Self, because it is "chic and affordable" line (prices range from $30-$75) features funky and wearable styles perfect for the trendy fashionista. Another brand that is known for offering the look of couture without the high price, French company MURVAL was created by two sisters, Muriel and Valerie, who recognized the need for fashionable accessories at accessible prices. With its bags costing less than $50, MURVAL comes out with two collections a year and despite the low price points scores high among the fashion crowd.

Though not in the under $100 category, Dallas-based fashion designer Elaine Turner is still considered a bargain since her line features the finest embossed exotic leathers and signature painted grass cloth bags. Elaine Turner quickly rose to the ranks of the fashion It Bag and the brands popularity continues to grow because of its distinct and creative approach to classic looks in handbags and accessories.

Costume jewelry makes a comeback

THOMAS MANN designer earrings designer jewelry.
Thomas Mann earrings silver and goldtone. Thomas Mann earrings with fish hook wires. Signed by Thomas Mann 2006. Long oblong earrings with engraving. One earring says Do you believe in luck? The other earring says Or is it just fate?

JOANNA SMILEY
For The Times Leader

Trend-watching Northeastern Pennsylvanians who paid attention to the news out of Fashion Week might have sighed a little wistfully.

• After all, what was paraded as most desirable during the recent eight-day wardrobe-palooza in New York City is a bit beyond the common budget.

• Locals with an appetite for style, though, also can breathe a sigh of relief. Budget-conscious alternatives are everywhere, and that applies to fabulous accessories. Retro made a big showing at this year’s Fashion Week, which is good news for fans of costume jewelry.

• Great finds, from antique vintage to eco-friendly funk, are for sale all over town. The trick is knowing where to look.

• Ever been to the area near Insalaco’s Shopping Center in West Pittston? It’s home to a Chinese buffet, a car wash and an electrical supply company. Not exactly a presumed hot spot for fashion.

But nestled in this busy plaza, an unassuming shop called Accessorize & More reminds fashion bugs that sometimes the best finds turn up in the most unusual places. “I’ve been coming here for years. Just about everything is 50 percent off. They have very unique stuff, stuff you would never find in malls,” said Philomena Nardella, a customer from Scranton. On a recent Saturday, Nardella scoured the shop’s aisles. She had no clue what she was looking for, but she knew the perfect piece would catch her eye.

Ruby-red rhinestone necklaces and earrings flashed from the shelves. Gold bangle cuff bracelets -- for less than $5 apiece -- dangled from a bright magenta plastic hand, an art piece also for sale. Near the register were Maggi B knockoff purses and heavy-metal pocket mirrors engraved with the words “Fashion Slave.”

But it was a copper-rimmed, multi-layered chunk necklace that landed in Nardella’s purse. “I love the brown, and this is so vintage,” she said, smiling as she completed her $12 purchase. Typically, for a bracelet, necklace, ring, brooch or hair accessory to be considered costume jewelry it has to be fake in some way. Its value derives from its design and craftsmanship and not the material, said Clare Sauro, assistant curator of accessories at the Fashion Institute of Technology’s museum in New York City.

Costume jewelry doesn’t always have to be intricate. “One of the greatest pieces we have is a molded plaster brooch with ribbon you could literally make at home,” Sauro said, noting the museum displays about 800 pieces of costume jewelry. “Most costume jewelry is timeless, but there’s been a definite split in the last six to eight years. Costume jewelry has become associated with the high-fashion world. You see seasonal trends on the runway. But there is also a world of costume jewelry that is personal and emotion-based and not at all dependent on trends,” Sauro added.

Popular styles right now include affordable and earthy, eco-friendly pieces “with a renewed emphasis on the leaf,” said Jean Thompson, spokeswoman for the Buyers Market of American Craft, which just put on a trade show at the Philadelphia Convention Center. As the fashion industry prepares for the looming recession, Sauro also has a trend prediction. “With the economic downturn, people are tending to wear simpler clothes. Costume jewelry adds that flair you crave. If your outfit is from the Gap, you can still dress it up,” she said. Without even knowing it, 16-year-old Gabriella Corridoni of Pittston nailed three key trends with her recent purchase of an earthy, eye-catching, economical necklace.

“I don’t like to wear things everyone else is wearing,” the Pittston Area High School student said. Corridoni spent a recent Sunday afternoon at a house sale, perusing a Kingston family’s superfluous belongings. She stumbled upon an antique sterling-silver necklace. It had a chunky-looking design and real daisy flower encased in glass. She paid $1.50 for the piece. “It was the best buy. I only purchase costume jewelry when I see something really special,” she said.

Many of Corridoni’s hipster friends, however, stop by Details by Gloria in Wyoming on a weekly basis for its cheap, imitation-designer items. “It’s very trendy jewelry and purses. Knockoffs that are exactly like what you’d find on the streets in New York City,” Corridoni said. On a road dotted with row houses not far from Details by Gloria stands a 4-year-old gem of a shop. Blink once, and it might blend into the rest of the neighborhood. Though this Kingston store, Studio M Designs, carries precious gemstones and crystals, costume-jewelry shoppers craving bright colors such as turquoise can still spot great finds.

“We have tons of turquoise. It’s one of those great stones people buy all year round, year in, year out,” said Randy Knappman who runs the store with his mother. Above the shelf that displays dozens of ocean-blue rings, a sign reads: “Turquoise Dispels Depression.” “Years ago, my mom had a virus, and the doctors didn’t know what was wrong with her. She turned to alternative medicine and the healing powers of stones. It became her business, and I made it fashionable,” Knappman said pointing to a rack of sparkling cuffs. Northeastern Pennsylvania may not be red-carpet land, but so what? Kate Beckinsale and Beyonce wore exactly these types of bracelets stacked on their wrists at the recent Screen Actors Guild and MTV Video Music Awards.

Definition of costume jewelry:

“Affordable jewelry made with the design aesthetic of finer jewelry and sometimes outright copycats of designers’ work.”

— Jean Thompson, spokeswoman for the Buyers Market of American Craft

eFashionHouse offers online shoppers unlimited designer handbag purchases

Unlike the department stores who announced on January 10, 2008, a worldwide purchase control of designer handbags, eFashionHouse proclaims the opposite.

“Our Internet business moto is ‘Shopping without Boundaries.’ We are in business to cater to the world,” said Anna Miller, eFashionHouse.com’s owner. Online shoppers can purchase as many items as they want when placing an online order at eFashionHouse.com.

eFashionHouse was named Best of the Web by People StyleWatch and recognized by About.com as the top online retailer of Chanel.

eFashionHouse ships worldwide, offers deep discounts off retail, charges no sales tax and provides free USA FedEx delivery for orders over $200. Unlike many of the other online stores selling the same products, eFashionHouse allows online shoppers to purchase as many designer fashion accessories they want. It pays to clean out the clothes closet

By Nicole Tsong
Seattle Times staff reporter

Nearly every closet has at least one splurge outfit hanging there in perfectly good shape, a reminder of a rash purchase that didn't work out. It's too precious to give away but takes up coveted space.

That's where consignment stores come in. They are the savvy solution for people with unwanted clothes that deserve a second, fabulous life, and they can garner a little moola in the process. "Somebody else will get really good use out of it," said Paula Iorio-Rosato, of Labels on Phinney Ridge. "So get a little bit of your money back and have somebody else use it."

Consignment shops sell your clothes and typically return 40 percent to 50 percent of the sales price to you at the end of a set time period, usually two to three months. If clothes don't sell, they are returned to the owner or donated to charity.

Victoria Yee, a clothing designer, consigns regularly at Le Frock on Capitol Hill. She can make more money selling handbags and shoes on eBay, she said, but clothes don't photograph as well and people like to touch fabrics.

She brings in clothes that she hasn't worn in months, ones that no longer look good on her and pieces she doesn't like. Consigning also helps her be a more disciplined shopper. She tries to buy unusual, high-quality clothes that will consign well if she doesn't love them.

"I like buying nicer things, and I can sell them back," Yee said. "I view clothes as more of an investment."

Guide to consign

Smart consigning starts with the pieces you bring in and knowing your consignment shop. They all have different aesthetics, and it helps to know what they want.

Consignment shop owners recommend bringing in current items bought in the last three or four years. Designer labels are even better.

One common mistake is to try to consign clothes that are fashion no-nos. If you don't want that Saks Fifth Avenue blazer from 1989, chances are the stores won't either.

"If something's expensive, and if they've had it 10 or 15 years, [they think] it's worth a lot and the fact is it's not," said Alexandra Oncken, owner of Alexandra's Exclusively Designer Label Consignment in downtown Seattle. "It's one of the biggest misconceptions about consignment."

It's also wise to have realistic expectations. Consigning will not get your money back from the original purchase. Shops sell pieces for up to one-third of the retail price, depending on the condition and the brand.

"People kind of forget if you get it brand new in a store, brand new means it's never left the store," said Gentry Michaels, who works at Le Frock. "You can get things on sale at a department store for up to 70 percent off. Come to a store like this, it has to be at least 70 percent [off]."

Here are some other consigning tips:

• Call ahead. Some stores' consignment appointments are booked up for two months. Others will take pieces you bring in that day.

• Accessories sell well. Bring in jewelry, handbags, scarves and hats in good condition.

• Stay seasonal. Most stores don't have storage for pieces out of season, so bring in winter clothes in fall and in early winter, and summer clothes in spring and in early summer.

• Designer labels sell. Labels sell better and are a requirement for some high-end consignment stores.

• Use care. Make sure the items are in good condition. Stores won't take pieces with buttons missing, shoes with uneven tread and so on.

• Be flexible. A consignment store has a specific audience, and might send you elsewhere if the owners feel they can't sell an item.

• Be patient. Your item may be on the floor for two to three months and possibly longer if the store puts it on sale.

• Check the kids' clothes. A few consignment stores sell children's clothes.

"You can save so much money all the way up until 8, 9, 10, when it kind of dies and they stop growing so quickly," said Wendy Douglas, owner of Me N Moms.

Selling direct

If you don't want to wait for your money, selling clothes for cash is another option. Some consignment boutiques buy for cash in addition to consignment, while other stores specialize in cash purchases. You typically will receive less money than from consignment, however. For example, Le Frock offers around 25 percent of what employees think the item will sell for whereas consignors receive 40 percent of the final sale.

Michaels encourages people with nicer or more unusual pieces to consign. The store prices it a little higher to see if it will sell, and also will put it on sale. The trade-off is that the piece might not find a new owner.

"The best consignors recognize you're going to do the job for them," Oncken said. "If something doesn't sell at the price you thought it would, it's because nobody bought it. We just keep marking things down and have a sale rack in the back as a last-ditch effort to get something for a piece."

Chanel Handbags

by designerhandbags101

Coco Chanel wasn't just a fashion designer - she was the very first fashion icon. The French born designer's famous jersey-and-tweed suits closed the gap between male and female clothing and created a fashion that offered women both comfort and haute couture style. In a time when inequality ran rampant, Chanel took the reigns of feminism by the designer skirt hem by doing away with rigid corsets and cinched waists, in favor of pants and suit jackets for women - emerging as a pioneer for women's fashion and women's rights.

Born in 1883, Chanel was raised in a French orphanage. In 1912, she was backed by a wealthy aristocrat, Arthur Capel, who funded her first hat shop. Even during the Great Depression of the 1920's, Chanel's designs grew - thanks to word of mouth. Even though this was a time of tightened purse strings many people still found they could afford a $700 Chanel designer suit, from one of her Paris or Biarritz boutiques. After inventing Chanel No. 5 perfume, Chanel's name was on everyone's lips, so much so that director Samuel Goldwin commissioned her to dress the stars of his films, including Katherine Hepburn, Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor.

In 1940, Chanel was forced to close her boutiques and turned to nursing during WWI. When she got romantically involved with a Nazi officer and fled to Switzerland, Chanel was exiled for fifteen years from her beloved Paris, only to return to fashion in the 1950s, when she caught the appreciative gaze of American Hollywood.

Coco Chanel died in 1971, leaving her moniker in the hands of Karl Lagerfeld, who still uses the Chanel name and traditional style philosophy.

Chanel Fur & Leather Bag with Chain Strap - made of soft, plush, genuine fur, this bag features a single chain strap wrapped around leather. Its interior is completely lined in leather and it features the trademark "CC" turn lock, secure clasp. Available in soft burgundy fur from $780 to $1,500 online.

Chanel 10120 - is made from 100% authentic quilted lamb leather. This shoulder-style bag has the gold signature "CC" monogram turn lock hardware and burgundy leather lined interior. All Chanel bags come with authenticity paperwork for between $1000 and $1,600 online.

What’s old, is new! What's on Sale!

by NIMISHA TIWARI ,TNN
THE TIMES OF INDIA

The world of fashion is constantly changing, more and more designers and stylists are looking to the past for inspiration; what’s old is new, and nowadays fashion is shaped by all the cultural influences from around the globe.

The past continues to be the inspiration for the future but more than ever, designers are concerned about where fashion and beauty trends originate. The styles and trends we will see in 2008 will inevitably reflect modern interpretations of past designs, while also keeping an eye on emerging global trends in beauty and culture.

What’s IN

Feminine dressing, thin belts, head scarves, pencil skirts that are knee length or longer, sequins, metallics, silk jersey and chiffon, hats, clutches, dressing up, colours — orange, rose, lavender, green and silver, the new neutral. Remember, comfort factor should be foremost.

What’s OUT

Wicker and raffia shoes, ultra short skirts and shorts, peasant skirts, jersey knits, baby doll dresses, lots of black and/or other dark colours, loud geometric prints. The takeaway would be a focus on fit and quality — less on brand. Go cheap on accessories like the skinny belt and metallic purses.

Experts’ forecast

Stylist Asha Hariharan says this year is going to be a clear celebration of Bohemian lifestyle. The beach blonde and copper blonde look will be back. Hair doesn’t need to be poker straight, in fact a vintage, luminous look is in.

Solo shades and shine lines are going to be in. With the winter going into autumn, the black accentuated look is back. People are going to revel in the effortless luxury in hair, couture and living spaces. The key word would be luxury in summer time. A taste for cigars, aged old whiskey in hues of vintage gold and ochre, rich boudoir, burgundy on endless silk drapes will rock the 2008 look.

Accessories designer Nina Lekhi, who recently won an award for not using leather, feels individuals would opt for utilitarian accessories in 2008. Men would go for bags with slings, mobile phone pouches and comfortable shoes. “There will be a conscientious drift from using real leather to moving away from practices which harm animals and the environment” she adds.

Stylist and designer Rocky S says, “My forecast for 2008 is that the silhouettes will be a mix of restricted and relaxed mood. The tent will continue with natural and high waist accents, bottoms are either narrow or completely flared. Colours will be neutral, fresh pastels with vivid trims running into rich deep shades. Long, flowy dresses will be in vogue, voluminous skirts and bit of power dressing for women. As for men, it will be the tapered slim fit in both top and bottom wear for semis and formals and more of lounge wear.

Designer Manish Malhotra plays it articulate. He says, “Palazzo trousers, skinny pants and jeans for men and women are cool. Knee-length dresses of fitted but quenched at the waist with a belt is a great look to watch out for.”

Designer Purses at Bargain Prices – Shop Online Shop Vintage

If you’ve ever walked into one of the famous fashion houses on 5th Avenue or Rodeo Drive, you know how wonderful it feels to admire the latest designer handbags in person. From the softest lambskin handbags to colorful snakeskin wallets and deerskin clutches, there is never a shortage of handbags and accessories to add to the wish list.

One could spend days admiring designer handbags made in various shapes, styles, colors and materials. That is until you notice the price tag and nonchalantly make for the exit with your mortgage payment (or rent check) still in tow.

With the average cost of designer handbags skyrocketing from the hundreds to the thousands, few can afford to drop $2k on the latest must-have creation from Chloe, Chanel, Marc Jacobs and Yves Saint Laurent. So what is a fashionista, who doesn’t have a trust fund, private jet or penthouse apartment, supposed to do when looking to purchase a new designer bag at a reasonable price?

Before you decide give up eating for a month, apply for a second job or max out your credit cards, there are ways to find designer handbags at below-retail prices (and it doesn’t involve purchasing a knock-off).

Let’s face it finding an authentic new Chanel handbag at a discount is like looking for a needle in a haystack or more like trying to find a pair of black Christian Louboutins in a size 7 at the Barney’s warehouse sale. Seems too good to be true, right? Not if you know where to look. Smart shoppers know that you can always find a deal and paying full price should never be your only option.

Shop Online.
If Chanel’s your forte than check out http://www.efashionhouse.com/, which was recently recognized by About.com as the top of three Web Sites to carry authentic Chanel handbags at off-retail prices. From the classic quilted style to elegant evening bags, eFashionHouse sells a variety of brand new handbags from Chanel (did we mention they’re guaranteed authentic) at 10-50% below retail. And if Chanel isn’t at the top of your list, the site is divided into five stores and carries hundreds of designers like Chloe, Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Tods and even local LA designers, like Rachel Pally, Pietro Alessandro and Alexander Zar – all at below-retail prices.

We contacted eFashionHouse and asked how they do it -- sell these high-priced items below retail. "Our goal is to provide a resource for people to own high-end designer fashion accessories without paying full retail price," said Anna Miller, eFashionHouse owner. “We are constantly looking for new ways to provide resources for people to obtain designer merchandise at prices 20-60% below retail. It’s our mission, vision and purpose!”

Other dot com online stores that are known to sell authentic designer handbags are Overstock and Ebay. Overstock sells more general department store merchandise making the designer items limited and higher priced. Ebay can be a challenge unless you are an expert Ebay shopper. Auction sites are largely unregulated and are not always what they appear to be. For instance you can purchase a designer handbag that is guaranteed authentic and find out it is in fact not authentic. Or you can bid on one thing and when it arrives the item is an imitation of what you bid on. To protect your self from buying counterfeit bags (which not only are illegal but are known to support terrorism and child labor), you should always shop from a reputable site that provides guarantees of authenticity and have a longstanding reputation for selling authentic items online.

Vintage Shops.
Another option for buying designer handbags at prices below retail is to peruse your local vintage shops however there is never a guarantee that you’ll find what you’re looking for and you will most likely be buying a used handbag. Vintage is always a hot trend but make sure the bag is in good condition and is truly authentic. There are some online sites that carry authentic designer handbags, like http://www.luxuryvintage.com/ and JillsConsignment.—both dot com online.

You could also drive to an outlet mall a hundred miles away to find your next designer purse but who has the time or the patience. And don’t even get me started on renting a designer handbag, from worrying about bacteria to the outrageous weekly fees, I’d rather save my money for six months than put my hard-earned income toward carrying a purse that’s been who knows where.

Finally if shopping for a new handbag at below-retail prices still seems too high, there is always the option of layaway. Certain sites like previously mentioned, eFashionHouse, offer layaway plans which provide customers the opportunity to pay over time according to their budget.
